Lin Nanqiao and Xia Linshi wake up inside a novel neither of them wrote, married to the Ji family's twin brothers, Ji Chi and Ji Yu. Both women know exactly how their story ends on the page, and it ends badly. So they pool what they can steal and start saving for an exit, working the plan quietly while the marriages they meant to escape become something harder to walk away from.
